I am always up for fun and easy gift ideas – and this cute DIY Citrus Earbud Zipper Pouch is just that!
This fun little zipper pouch is perfect for holding earbuds or a little bit of cash! You can easily attach the ring to a backpack or inside a purse – so you never have to go hunting for it. I just love the cute citrus style to it too – and it only takes about a half hour to sew up! So you could make up a bunch for school or as gifts for friends in just a little while.
It’s a great project even for a beginner – don’t let that little zipper worry you! You can mix and match up the colors too – this little lemon is so fun but it would be so cute to do orange and lime versions too!

Begin by cutting out all your fabrics and felt pieces. Iron the fusible fleece to the back of your outside fabric pieces.
Center the fruit slices on each of the front pieces. Hand stitch them in place with the white embroidery floss, using a running stitch.
Lay one side of the front lining down, with the right side up. Lay the zipper face up on top of that, lining up the top straight edge. Place the matching front fabric piece face down on the zipper. You can place the fabrics in the middle of the zipper. Sew the fabrics and zipper together along the straight edge with a 1/4″ seam allowance.
Open up the fabrics so the wrong sides are together and press. (Make sure you don’t press the zipper teeth, they could melt and ruin your zipper.)
Repeat for the other side of the zipper, making sure that you lay the pieces out in the same way. Press the fabrics away from the zipper.
Open the zipper up past the fabrics. Sew the zipper together at the top point of the fabrics. For the loop fabric, fold in the the sides, then fold the fabric in half, bringing the short sides together. Sew along each side.
Fold the loop in half and place the raw edges at the top, where you sewed the zipper together. Cut a small piece of your main fabric, about 1″ x 1″. Fold the fabric in half and place at the bottom of the lemon. Sew both of these fabrics in place at the top and bottom.
Open up the zipper past the halfway point. Place the back side of the lemon face down on the front, lining up the sides and top and bottom. Place the lining fabric on top of that, so the right side is facing up. Sew all the way around the outside.
Trim off the top and bottom of the zipper. Trim any extra fabric and clip your curves in the seams. Turn right side out and press.
Add a split ring to the loop and you’re all finished!
So fun right? I want to make up a bunch more, just to have on hand for adding to gifts!

Cute pattern! I was wondering if the pieces included seam allowance, or would I need to add that myself?
