Darling Dresden Block

From Our House is a free quilt pattern to celebrate the release of Riley Blake Designs’ next low volume collection, Hush Hush 4. Each of the prints in Hush Hush 4 is designed by a different Riley Blake Designer and they are all so fun!

My print for this collection is one of my favorite blocks: the Dresden. It’s called All Dresdened Up and is covered in little Dresdens in shades of pink and blue.

The quilt designed to show off these fun fabrics is called From Our House and it’s made up of log cabin blocks with different 6″ blocks in the centers.

Each week of the sew along, the RBD designers will be sharing optional blocks for the 6″ centers. It’s my turn to share my optional block and I just had to do a Dresden block for mine.

I designed a 6″ finished block using a quarter Dresden – it’s the perfect way to try out Dresdens if you’ve never done one before!

The RBD Quilt is shown in Hush Hush 4 and their Shades basic. I’m sewing along, but I’m using Hush Hush 4 and my Dainty Daisy basic. I thought it would be fun to do it in shades of blue and pink to match my Hush Hush print. What do you think?

I’m also going to make the designer blocks, so it will be fun to switch those out for the centers. Here’s what my block looks like in Block 1.

You can join in and sew along with Hush Hush 4 and you can use all sorts of fun fabrics for the darker log cabin prints – Dainty Daisy or fabrics from your stash. It’s going to be such a fun quilt to make and there will be so many options for your center blocks!
