Today, I get to show you more of my Christmas decor! It’s been fun, and a little tricky this year, since we’re in a new house. I’ve had to find new places for all our usual decorations, and I’ve come across some things in boxes that just don’t seem to fit in this house. Which is OK with me-I like to change things up!
I like to mix styles too. You know I lean toward vintage, but I also love having things with lots of texture and bright colors. As much as I love neutrals, color just makes me happy! Today I have some simple ways to create fun equations in your holiday decorating using different fabrics, materials and textures.
For my vintage windows I mixed together greenery, vintage fabrics, and the bright colors of felt! I found some gorgeous frosted boxwood wreaths and hung them with gingham ribbon. I had to dress them up with some red ribbon bows too. These were super easy, I just tied simple bows and pinned them to wreaths so I can change them out year to year. I also found the cutest wool felt garland. Don’t you think it looks great with the windows?
I love the way the texture of the wreath looks against the vintage windows and felt garland!
For my couches and coffee table, I mixed together the soft texture of the sweater pillows with the glittery beads of the deer pillow, and I contrasted those with the vintage style of the trees and quilt pieces!
I added some vintage style bottle brush trees to the coffee table in a little winter scene.
I had to mix in some little glittery deer with the big and little trees – and I have the trees sitting on vintage fabric and quilt pieces. I’m trying out the idea of doing a quilt design with fabrics on the top of the coffee table. What do you think?
I love the way the little glittered deer tie in with my awesome Beaded Deer and Cross Stitch pillows, and my new green throw too.
I know things can be crazy around this time of year, so you can check out some of these cute things at Target.com. They have free standard shipping until December 25. I’ve used it for several gifts, which I’ve shipped straight to my parents (where we’ll be spending the holidays). So super easy.
I’ve got a bonus for you today too! Nikki from My Style Diaries is sharing some great tips in this video on how you can mix up your style with different textures, colors and more. Check it out!

Love the mixture of vintage and modern!
Question: Your vintage windows (love!) did you just put them up or did you seal them first (to keep the chippy paint on)? I have an old set in our garage that I want to put up, but not sure what to do about the finish….
Also – How did you to hang the windows?
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Heather! Thanks, I’m so glad you like the display!
For the windows – I haven’t sealed them yet. I really need to, I don’t want them to lose their color and chippiness. That’s on my to do list for January! I used a picture hanging kit to hang them – I bought it at Walmart but you can get them at craft stores too. It comes with wire, eye screws, and hanging pieces. The kits come in different weights so you can pick one that will fit with your window. Hope that helps! :)

I like the decor. It is quite restful with the pastels. I love red and green, which my decorations are, but for some reason pastels are so peaceful at this hectic time of year.
Go for the quilt. If you have more blocks, congratulations. These are not easy to piece. I assume you did so by hand with paper backed pieces. That is how my mother did hers–hand sewing them in the evening while camping. I don’t remember a quilt made from the blocks. A wall hanging would be enough.

PS: What are the felted balls on the banner?
Also: I didn’t catch this the first time through, Beaded Deer? Whoa. You are a woman of great patience.

See…one of my cats would definitely see the bottlebrush trees as toys. I have to put them in places he can’t get to!! But everything looks smashing- love, love, love. Thanks for popping by Snickerdoodle Sunday- hope to see you again tomorrow! (And I’ll send you that link I owe you over the weekend!! ;) )
