We’re already on Week 8 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge, and this week’s block is the beautiful Turning Point block designed by Sandy Gervais! Sandy always creates such charming designs, and this block is a great mix of classic patchwork with a fresh, modern feel.

The design combines flying geese and half-square triangle units that come together to create a bold star shape in the center. I love how the piecing creates strong directional movement in the block — it really draws your eye to that center square.

For my version, I used a soft, warm palette from some favorite Riley Blake basics:
- Dapple Dot Canyon Rose
- Blossom Peaches N Cream
- Sparkler Apricot

These shades of peachy pink play so nicely together, and the subtle sparkle and dot textures add just enough interest without taking away from the block design. I especially love how the darker Canyon Rose frames the lighter fabrics and really helps the shapes stand out.
This block is another fun addition to the sampler, and it’s so fun seeing everyone’s fabric choices as the quilt starts coming together. If you’re sewing along, be sure to download the Turning Point block pattern from Riley Blake Designs and add your version to the challenge!
