Today we are kicking off another Riley Blake Designs mystery quilt! This is the 2024 RBD Block Challenge Block 1 – the Vintage Delight Quilt Block!
I am so excited to be sewing along with another RBD Block Challenge Sew Along! The sew-along starts today and runs through May 28th. Each Tuesday a new block will be released, except for the last Tuesday of each month, which will be a catch-up week! All the blocks are designed by RBD Designers, and at the end of the sew along the layout will be released – though you can always come up with your own or use the blocks for anything you like! And even more fun – the whole sew along is FREE!
This is week 1 and our first block is designed by Lori Holt! It’s called Vintage Delight and it’s such a pretty block!
I am sewing along with the 2024 challenge using my newest Afternoon Tea fabrics. They have such pretty colors, blues, greens and blush and of course florals and fun tea elements! I’m looking forward to choosing the fabrics for the blocks each week!
For the background fabric I’m using on of my new Dainty Daisy low volumes, the Peony on cloud. I love the subtle little pink flowers and speckles that are on the fabric, it’s fun how well the blend in with the collection!
2024 RBD Block Challenge Block 1
You can find the free block patterns on the Riley Blake Designs blog.
You can have a lot of fun and share your blocks in the RBD Block Challenge Facebook Group. I love joining in with sew alongs and seeing what fabrics others are using. Riley Blake Designs will be showing the blocks in two fabrics, their Confetti Cottons Solids and their batiks. And you can follow along with me here and my Afternoon Tea fabrics. I would love to know what you’re sewing with!
Come back next week for MY block! Yay!

This is gorgeous and it seems that others have the same question that I do… Does it state anywhere how much fabric we need to complete the blocks? I love your Afternoon Tea fabric!
Beverly says
Thank you! I’m going to use a fat quarter bundle of Afternoon Tea, but the fabric requirements for the challenge are here: https://www.rileyblakedesigns.com/assets/images/sewalongs/RBDBlockChallenge/2024/FabricRequirements.pdf

Your blocks are so beautiful and I am now wanting to join in. I too want to know how much of the Afternoon Tea Party do I need? I am ready to get started but just need to get my fabrics from you!! Thanks so much, Lisa McCoy
Beverly says
Hi Lisa! I’m going to use a fat quarter bundle for the blocks! :) Thanks!!

Hi,
I see the fabric requirements for the challenge are listed. Is it possible to do the challenge with pre-cuts? I see you said that you were doing the blocks with a fat-quarter bundle. Is that all the fabric needed, or would more yardage or a pre-cut be needed?
Thank you so much!!!
