We have another lovely set of blocks for our sew along! This is the Strength in Every Stitch Sew Along Week 5 and we have two new 12″ blocks for our quilt.

The holiday got away from me for the Week 4 blocks, so I’ll go back and add them in next week, but for now I’m forging ahead for Week 5!
If you’re new to the sew along, Riley Blake Designs is hosting a darling sew along for their Strength in Every Stitch quilt and it’s designed to show off the gorgeous prints from Hush Hush 5! These low volumes are so sweet – each one has it’s own little personality and they add interest and fun without overshadowing the quilt blocks. I love it! I’m sewing along and making my blocks with Hush Hush 5 and my Dainty Daisy basic.
This week we have two new blocks for the quilt and they are fabulous additions! First up is the Ties that Bind Block from Jennifer Long of Sew A Story. Isn’t it so sweet?

I used my Dainty Daisy colors: Songbird, Iron, and Licorice for the block and I added a pop of red with the embroidery floss. I used a chain stitch for the thread stitching. I really wanted that to pop and I love how it turned out. The pattern includes the needle for applique (I stitched mine down with invisible thread and a small zigzag stitch) and the twirly thread pattern as well.

The second block of the week is I Love You Sew by Sandy Klop of American Jane. It looks complicated with all the little pieces but the instructions have you make the half square triangles with the 8-at-a-time method so it goes together really quickly!

I love Sandy’s little tiny tulip low volume. It’s so classic American Jane! For this block, I used my Dainty Daisy Stargazer, Peony, Honey, Songbird, and Frosting.
The Strength in Every Stitch sew along is free! All the block patterns are available in 6″ and 12″ versions, so you can really make the quilt your own. You can find all the info on the sew-along on the RBD Blog, along with the schedule and fabric requirements.
