Strength in Every Stitch Sew Along Week 3

It is time for the Strength in Every Stitch Sew Along Week 3! These gorgeous blocks are such great additions to our Hush Hush 5 quilt.

We have two new blocks in our Hush Hush 5 sew along, Strength in Every Stitch. This week’s blocks add some fun skills as well, like applique. They were so fun to put together! I am sewing along with my Dainty Daisy basic from Riley Blake Designs, and I’m using Hush Hush 5 of course – RBD’s latest low volume collection.

First up are the Perseverance Blocks from Lori Holt. To make the quilt as shown, you need both the 6″ and 12″ versions of this block, and I’m really loving how cute they both turned out! I used several colors of Dainty Daisy in the block: Denim, Stargazer, Barn Red, Jazzberry, Frosting, Peony, Honey, Holly, Waterfall, and Alpine. Whew, what a list! That’s the fun thing about this block, though – it’s so sweet and colorful.

I switched up my Hush Hush background print in my blocks; I used Minki Kim’s print from Hush Hush 5 as the background. There are sweet little pixelated images throughout – strawberries, cherries, flowers and more. They look like cross stitch! I’ll use Lori’s print in a later block. ;)

The second block of the week is the Serenity Block from Sue Daley, and of course she’s added in some darling applique! This is such a fun block design, with applique shapes paired with Log Cabin blocks. For this block, I also used several Dainty Daisy colors: Stargazer, Holly, Waterfall, Denim, Holly, and Riley Red. I made the 12″ version of this block.

Sue’s Hush Hush print is the background here, and there are colorful dragonflies scattered over the blocks. I love what a sweet touch they add.
