I have such a fun book to tell you about today! It’s called Sew Many Dresses – Sew Little Time by Tanya Whelen and I really am so impressed with how awesome this book is!
If you have been wanting to learn to sew up apparel, or you’ve been making dresses for years, either way you’ll want to pick up a copy of Sew Many Dresses. Tanya has put SO much information into this book! There are tips for getting started, information for so many different dress styles, and lots of ways to create your own dress – in just the style you like! I was blown away by how detailed all the instructions and patterns were.
The book is laid out in a really smart way. Tanya starts with a basic bodice and then adds in all sorts of different variations. Plus you can add in collars, sleeves, and so much more. Then she works her way to all sorts of different skirt styles! Straight, pleated, wrap – there are so many different options.
Did you ever play with those fashion plates as a kid? You could mix and match different tops and bottoms, and then color up the styles and fabrics you liked. That’s what this book reminds me of! You can pick your favorite bodice, your favorite skirt, and then add in any extras you want. It’s so great.
I can’t wait to get started on sewing up dresses made just for me! Makes me feel like a fancy designer – when that’s totally not the case. :)
And guess what?! Tanya has a copy of Sew Many Dresses for one of you! All you have to do is enter on the Rafflecopter Widget below. Super easy!
You can find Sew Many Dresses at Amazon too – I really think you’d enjoy it! You can also find all sorts of tips and fun info at the Sew Many Dresses Facebook page!

I do not wear jeans or slacks, only dresses and skirts. I have lost over 150 pounds over the last 1 1/2 years so I am still trying catch my wardrobe up and to make things that can be altered down as I continue to lose weight. I tend to like the fitted waist dresses of the late ’40’s and ’50’s with full skirts. Even a heavier women will look better with her waist defined than wearing a sack. I also happen to believe that the knees of women are not particularly pretty and covering them enhances your look. I know most people do not agree but my husband who sees a lot of women dressed up as to his job agrees with me entirely.
I love all dresses. I wear more dresses than anything else. They are just very easy. With three kids, it is simpler to just through on a casual dress than put anything else on these days. I would love to make them all. :)
