We’re back for Week 2 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge, and this week’s block is such a fun one! 🌟

The Spin Around block for Week 2 is designed by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter, and it has the sweetest movement and shape—one of those blocks that looks more complex than it is and is just so satisfying to sew. I love how Amy’s design brings a little extra energy to the quilt already! I wanted the pinwheel in the center to be subtle – tone on tone – but if you want your pinwheel to be more bold, you can make your prints darker or more eye-catching.

For my version, I pulled in a soft, cheerful mix of Dainty Daisy Stargazer, Sparkler Apricot, and Blossom Peaches & Cream. The warm peachy tones with the crisp daisy print make this block feel fresh and happy, and I’m loving how it’s playing with last week’s block already.

We’d absolutely love for you to pull out your favorite fabrics and sew along with us. And if you want even more inspiration, be sure to join the RBD Block Challenge Facebook group — it’s always full of gorgeous blocks and color ideas.

It’s always fun to see how each new block changes the look of the quilt, and this one really made me excited to keep going. I’m already imagining how all of these designs will come together by the end of the challenge—and I can’t wait to share next week’s block with you.
