We have a new block in the Riley Blake Sew Along – the Halo Star Block! This is the 2025 RBD Block Challenge Block 9.

This is such a fun block—it has so many details and makes a gorgeous star design. I love that it’s simple yet makes a really unique star.
I’m sewing along with my Melody fabrics, and I used several prints in this block! I used the Clover bird print for the center and fussy-cut a little bird. I used the Grass Flutter Floral print for the light green star points and inner square highlights. The navy accent pieces are the Colonial Flower Fields print, and the outer yellow pieces are the Beehive Flower Fields print. The outer background print is the Apricot Basket.

Here are all my other blocks in the sew-along so far!
- Block 1: Bloom and Grow
- Block 2: Around the Corner
- Block 3: Rose Among Thorns
- Block 4: Twirl
- Block 5: Flower Patch
- Block 6: Starburst Block
- Block 7: Irish Spring
- Block 8: Bowdacious
This week’s block is by Jill Finley of @jillilystudio. I can’t wait to see all the other versions of this block in different fabrics – it’s always so inspiring to see blocks in different collections.

I wasn’t going to do the RBD block challenge this year until I saw yours. So lovely, and I already had the fabric. I’m coloring mine like your version, and I have to say, so nice not to have to pick my own colors which isn’t always easy for me. Thank you for the fun content.
