We have a fabulous new block in our sew along – this is the 2025 RBD Block Challenge Block 6, the Starburst Block.

This sweet block is the Starburst Block by Amber Elliot. This is such a great block, I love the star points. This block uses half rectangle triangles, which I know can sometimes be intimidating. But the instructions make these cute blocks so easy to sew together. They are a great intro to HRTs if you have never made them.

I’m sewing with my Melody fabric collection. Here are the other blocks in the series I’ve made so far.
- Block 1: Bloom and Grow
- Block 2: Around the Corner
- Block 3: Rose Among Thorns
- Block 4: Twirl
- Block 5: Flower Patch
For this block I used the Navy Main as the center and the little accents. I also used the green vines, green birds, and the green deco leaves.

I love how the star points are so “pointy” haha. That is the fun thing about the half rectangle triangles. It makes me want to make more blocks with them.

You can join the #RBDBlockChallenge Facebook Group to check them out! It is so inspirational to see the blocks in different fabrics.

Every year I LOVE looking at your version of the Riley Blake Challenge Blocks!! Always stunning – you do a fantastic job of chosing fabrics – each combination shows off the block perfectly. :)
Thank SO MUCH for the pattern.
